Compass Housing Services Co Ltd (Compass Housing) is about alleviating the hardship of housing stress for low to moderate income earning households by providing secure and affordable housing and delivering housing products for disadvantaged people who have difficulties sourcing adequate and affordable housing. In doing that, we also assist our clients develop a greater level of community involvement including participation in the operation of the company, as well as an annual social activities program. For our targeted client group we aim to be ‘your direction home'. We continuously work to increase the supply of housing for our potential clients, properly maintain the housing assets and assist clients in sustaining their tenancies. Compass Housing is a partner agency of the NSW Human Services Housing NSW, Community Housing Division and we in turn are assisted by many vital service and business partners to achieve our aims.

Compass Housing was established in 1984 and presently operates from a head office in Hamilton and branch offices located at Newcastle, East Maitland, Dubbo, Muswellbrook, Broken Hill, and Toukley.

Compass were recently awarded title to almost 1000 properties through the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Package, under this competitive tender we were awarded all packages that we applied for and were one of the two highest recipients of this tender. Compass has received over 500 of these dwellings and these dwellings will continue to be received until construction is completed. Compass will then leverage more affordable housing stock from these dwellings over a period of ten years which will assist in the ongoing need for more affordable housing stock.

Compass Housing has been in operation for over 25 years. Any surpluses that the organisation makes are reinvested into additional housing and to support the growing need of affordable housing.

Since the foundation of the organisation, Compass Housing has continually sought to improve in assets and tenancy management, client outcomes and financial outcomes. Improvements in these areas over the last 25 years have seen the company grow to over 90 employed staff today, with a wide range of skills and backgrounds.
