Project Management

In addition to our extensive experience in tenancy and asset management Compass Housing is experienced in project management, construction and upgrade works. Our experience in project management is used in various projects across all areas of operations.

Compass Housing has a professional, dedicated and experienced Project, Development and Asset Department with an extensive background in building, project management, asset management and related trades. This includes the management our new developments and constructions, and project management of major upgrade works.

Upgrades

Compass Housing is currently contracted by Housing NSW to project manage the upgrade works in the Hunter Region and also in Far West NSW and is also contracted to project manage dwellings for the Aboriginal Housing Office in Wilcannia and in Broken Hill. This department also manages our responsive and planned maintenance program with state of the art asset management software providing accurate budgeting and forecasts for the properties we manage.

Acquisition

In the last 24 months Compass Housing has also acquired, through purchases over 200 properties in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Upper Hunter, Gosford and Wyong areas. These acquisitions were all newly constructed dwellings; Compass Housing had a lot of input and involvement in some of these projects.

Consultation

Compass Housing has also been invited to provide ongoing input to projects being constructed under the Federal Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Package. We have been attending meetings on a regular basis with Resitech, Bovis Lend Lease, and Housing NSW on development projects in the Hunter Valley Region under this program.

Duration of Project: 11 months
This project involved the development of 12 two bedroom social and affordable housing units. The project delivers an environmentally sensitive built form utilising environmentally sustainability features in the development. The project also provides integration of social mixes and ensures social sustainability into the mixed income neighbourhood.

The development provides high quality environments for the residents, takes use of natural light and creates easy living. This development includes accessible units to allow for ageing in place. The life of the dwellings and the ongoing maintenance costs were considered in the initial capital outlay to ensure the project is viable long term, low maintenance materials were included in the dwellings with attention paid to privacy and acoustics.
