Rents & Payments

In 2008 the NSW Government introduced changes to the Community Housing Rent Policy which affect the way rent is calculated for Community Housing tenants who are entitled to receive Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) and/or Family Tax Benefits.

This rent calculation applies to all tenants living in properties that are owned or funded by Housing NSW and that are managed by Community Housing Providers under the Community Housing Rent Policy.

How do I make a rent payment?
  • 25% of your household income (excluding CRA and Family Tax benefits) plus
  • All of your household's CRA entitlement plus
  • 15% of any Family Tax Benefit payment received by your household.

It is important that you keep your rent in advance at all times.

You are required to pay your rent two weeks in advance when your tenancy starts.
